Los Angeles County

The Los Angeles County side of the coverage area is the eastern San Gabriel Valley and the Pomona Valley: Claremont, La Verne and Pomona, with San Dimas, Glendora, Diamond Bar, Walnut, Covina and West Covina as secondary cities. Property here is assessed by the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor, and formal assessment appeals go to the Los Angeles County Assessment Appeals Board. Claremont is the county's eastern edge; across its eastern line sit Upland and Montclair in San Bernardino County.

Gordon Hall accepts assignments in the Los Angeles County cities listed here because he works this market and its data. Competency in a market is a USPAP requirement, not a marketing choice; assignments farther west in the county are accepted only where geographic competency and the data support a credible result.

Assessor and appeals board

Property tax liens attach as of January 1 (California Revenue and Taxation Code section 2192), so decline-in-value and appeal appraisals are usually made as of that date. Review and appeal filing periods are set by the county: confirm them on the Assessor's decline-in-value page and the Assessment Appeals Board page before filing.

Filing windows are set and published by the county and change; confirm the current one on the county's own site before you file. Property tax appeal appraisal
