Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy explains what Mr. Cali Appraisals collects through mrcaliappraisals.com, why, who sees it, how long it is kept, and how to have it corrected or deleted. Mr. Cali Appraisals is an appraisal practice based in Claremont, CA. Appraisals are prepared and signed by Gordon Hall, California Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser, BREA No. AR003877. You can reach us by phone at (909) 324-6122 or through the contact form at /contact.

What we collect

What you type into a form. The site has three forms.

  • Request an appraisal: your name, your role (for example owner, executor, trustee or attorney), the property address and city, the property type, the purpose of the appraisal, whether the value is needed as of today or as of a past date and that date, who can give access to the property, any deadline, your phone and email, and any notes you add.
  • Firm account (for attorneys, CPAs and fiduciaries): your name, firm, role and practice area, the counties you work in, the assignment types you order, your turnaround needs, who should receive copies of reports, the billing arrangement, whether you need declarations or testimony, your phone and email, and any notes you add.
  • Contact: your name, phone, email and message.

Each form also records that you ticked the consent box.

How you found the site. With each form we record the page you submitted it from, the marketing tags in the address you arrived on (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content), and the site that referred you.

Technical records. A one-way hash of your IP address (never the address itself), used to stop repeated automated submissions, and your browser's user-agent string. Server logs keep standard request records for security.

Cookies. See the Cookie Policy. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them.

How we use it

  • To confirm the scope of the assignment, quote the fee, and schedule the inspection you asked about.
  • To prepare the appraisal report under a signed engagement, and to send copies to the people you name.
  • To set up and keep the preferences of a firm account, so later orders arrive already configured.
  • To call, text or email you about your request, as described in the consent you gave on the form.
  • To keep the site secure and to understand which pages are useful.

Calls, texts and emails

When you submit a form you agree that Mr. Cali Appraisals may call, text, and email you about that property, your firm's account or your message, at the number and address you provided. The appraisal request form also covers contact by automated means. Consent is not a condition of any sale. Message and data rates may apply.

To opt out: reply STOP to any text message, tell us on any call, or call (909) 324-6122 and ask to be removed. We stop within a reasonable time and keep only the record that you opted out, so you are not contacted again.

Confidentiality of appraisal work

The contents of an appraisal report, and the confidential information a client provides for an assignment, are kept confidential under the Ethics Rule of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the standards every appraisal here is prepared under. Assignment results are disclosed only to the client and the people the client authorizes, and otherwise only where the law or USPAP permits, such as to a state appraisal regulator or a peer review committee.

Who sees it

  • Gordon Hall, who prepares and signs the appraisals, and anyone who helps him schedule assignments.
  • The people you name to receive a copy of a report, such as your attorney, CPA or trustee.
  • Service providers that host the site, store form submissions, and send email, under terms that limit their use of the data to providing that service.
  • Regulators and courts when the law requires it, for example a request from the California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How long we keep it

Appraisal work files. When an assignment is completed, the work file (the engagement, the report and the data behind it) is kept for the period USPAP's Record Keeping Rule requires. It cannot be deleted before that period ends, even on request, because the rule exists so the work can be reviewed later.

Everything else. Requests that never became an assignment, contact messages and firm account details are kept while they are useful for the request or the account, and are deleted when no longer needed or when you ask.

Your California rights

California residents may ask to know what personal information we hold about them, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. Where a law or USPAP requires a record to be kept, such as an appraisal work file, we tell you which record and why. We do not discriminate against anyone for making a request. To make one, call (909) 324-6122 or use the contact form at /contact. We verify the request by confirming details you gave us, and answer within the time the California Consumer Privacy Act allows. The California Notice at Collection lists the categories in the form the law requires.

Children

This site is for adults arranging appraisals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
